How We Came to Create Fredrock
Fredrock grew from our shared interest in travel, hospitality, design, and creative projects, along with a strong connection to Fredericktown, Missouri. We created this private glamping campground just south of town on 33 acres along Twelve Mile Creek, where themed stays, outdoor recreation, and the natural setting come together in a way that reflects both of our backgrounds and the experiences that led us here.

Where Our Story Begins
We are Misty Brown and Beverly Brown, a mother-daughter team with roots in Fredericktown and years of experience that shaped the way Fredrock came to life. Although we both spent much of our lives away from Missouri, Fredericktown remained an important part of our story. That connection helped guide the vision for the property and the kind of guest experience we wanted to create.
Misty’s Return to Fredericktown
Misty is originally from Fredericktown, though she spent much of her early life in Texas after moving there with Beverly at a young age. Even while living away, she returned each summer to spend time with her grandparents in Fredericktown. Those visits shaped her connection to the area’s creeks, camping, fishing, open spaces, summer nights, and slower pace of life. After high school, she moved to southern California, where she worked in the restaurant industry, attended cosmetology school, and then spent 15 years as a hairstylist before returning to Missouri and later moving into real estate and short-term rental projects.
Beverly’s Path to Fredrock
Beverly also grew up in Fredericktown before moving to Texas at a young age. Over time, she built Hired Hands Day Spa in Pearland, Texas, into a long-running business after starting with a one-person massage practice. Her years as an entrepreneur became an important foundation for Fredrock, both financially and operationally. Beverly also traveled extensively and documented those experiences through her YouTube channel, Becoming Bev. Her bucket list journeys included destinations and experiences around the world, and that spirit of exploration helped shape the creativity behind Fredrock.
How the Property Took Shape
We purchased the Fredrock property in April 2020. At the time, it was an older campground with strong natural features and room to grow into something more distinct. During the first year, we cleared trails, cleaned up the grounds, revamped campsites, and began developing the unique rentals that would define the property. Our goal was not simply to reopen a campground, but to create a destination built around themed lodging, privacy, outdoor recreation, and a strong sense of place.
What We Built at Fredrock
Fredrock is centered around crystal-clear Twelve Mile Creek, a spring-fed creek that runs year-round through the land. The property includes seven themed on-site rentals, five full hook-up RV sites, tent camping areas, and three nearby off-site rentals whose guests also have access to the campground grounds. Over time, we developed spaces that reflect our interest in memorable stays, including custom-styled campers, tipis, a restored 1967 Airstream, and a themed 1973 MCI Challenger bus. Across Fredrock and our nearby rentals, we now operate ten units in total.
The Vision Behind the Experience
Fredrock reflects both of our lives in different ways. Misty’s connection to Fredericktown and her background in hospitality, design, and real estate helped shape the details of the guest experience. Beverly’s long experience as a business owner, along with her travels and broader creative perspective, helped shape the vision and growth of the property. Together, we built Fredrock as a place where people can stay close to nature while experiencing accommodations that carry our creative point of view and personal history.
What Fredrock Means to Us
Fredrock is more than a campground to us. It is a personal project built from family ties, years of work, and a shared effort to create something distinctive in a place that has long mattered to us. From the creek and wooded trails to the themed stays we developed over time, Fredrock reflects where we come from and the kind of stay we wanted to create here.
